Marian Osterby

Marian (Fagerness) Osterby (1933-2019), a member of AAUW for 43 years, was dedicated to books and education. She was a graduate of Centralia High School, Centralia Junior College, and the University of Washington, where she earned an M.A. in library science. Along the way she was employed in various libraries, including the Washington State Library. As head librarian of the Centralia Timberland Regional Library, she oversaw the remodel and expansion of the original Carnegie building (1977-1978). An accomplished cook, she compiled her acclaimed recipes into a book: From the Kitchen of Family and Friends. Over the years she collected thousands of books that were donated to the branch’s annual used-book sale, proceeds from which underwrite scholarships. Marian was the wife of Emil Osterby and reared three daughters.
