Sandy Godsey

Carol Alexandra “Sandy” (Champion) Godsey (1933-2017) earned a B.S. degree in home economics from the University of Wisconsin. Her work experience included employment at Yellowstone National Park, the Centralia school district as teacher of home economics, and Weyerhaeuser Forestry Research Center as library assistant. The wife of Robert Godsey and mother of two children, she was active in the Centralia First United Methodist Church as choir member and Sunday School teacher. A charter member of the Friends of Seminary Hill Natural Area organization, she served as president from 1993 to 2014.

A 58-year member of the Lewis County AAUW Branch, she was President (1974-1975) and historian (1995-2002) who organized 80 years’ accumulation of branch records and wrote decade summaries beginning in 1923, when the Lewis County Branch was founded. Sandy Godsey will be remembered by her many friends as a caring woman, considerate, thoughtful and quietly joyful.
